It’s just about time to wind this one down. But before we get there, some old-school gaming references.
I tried to play Zork once or twice. I can appreciate it for what it is–truly a landmark title in adventure gaming, and also a gaming culture mainstay since. When it came time to write this comic, there were a number of games I could have referenced. NetHack would be near the top of the list for me, personally, but to be frank, for all its charm it doesn’t have the same mindshare as other period titles. King’s Quest would be next (I am most fond of, and familiar with, the Perils of Rosella). But graphical titles are a bit too advanced for the computer we’re (theoretically) dealing with here.
Zork it is. Good luck with that one, Time. Keep tryin’ to get ye flask.
dude dude dude.
Stone Soup.
OMG, I loved Perils of Rosella! I never got very far, but I had all the old King’s Quest games, and 3 and 4 were more fun than the newer ones.
Also, this reminds me of Hunt the Wumpus….a classic old computer game, if there ever was one.
Oh, what. That sounds like work. For ME. Do not want.
Yeah, I belatedly realized that if this was how Ted thought and acted when he was five, Ted is a genius and should probably be in Mensa. If we do a collection of these strips we’ll have to age him up a little. Maybe to 8 or so.
You have made one week of awesomeness. It’s nice to see a comic with kid power, for a change, especially kid brain power.
