…and his enormous stone replica slumbers behind the facade of Mt. Rushmore, waiting for the day that he will rise and march once more. And, much to the dismay of the fair city of Pittsburgh, today is not that day.
This was inspired, as the title for the comic may imply, by real events, namely, the launching of a giant Carnegie head on the Allegheny. Anyone else notice a similarity to the old Superfriends Legion of Doom headquarters?
“We know not his provenance or purpose, but his baleful eye holds us all in its thrall.”
This line is gold.

MEANWHILE, AT THE LEGION OF DOOM
Your most delightfully surreal comic to date.
No one would have believed in the first years of the twenty-first century that this city was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences far greater than man’s. It had been nearly a century since Andrew Carnegie’s supposed death. But none could have suspected the evil afoot as this pillar of industry crept from his deathly tomb and slipped, unseen and unheard, beneath the surface of the Allegheny.
Ninety-one years later, the bloated besnorkled head rose from the depths and cast its hateful gaze upon the city of Pittsburgh. But that face, vast and monstrous as it was, remained as the last vestige of humanity atop a gnashing writhing blasphemy of eldritch terror. To see the beast was shatter into a million fragments of madness and oblivion. Such was the fate of Pittsburgh first, followed by city after city until all humanity eclipsed into merciful eternity.
