It would be a pretty rare thing to run a D&D campaign consisting of people who are, at least at the outset, significantly more competent in real life than their characters. The MMA champ who plays a fighter, the career housebreaker who plays a rogue, and the conservation officer who raises sled dogs in his spare time playing the ranger.
I would not invite the guy who thinks he’s more competent than the wizard back for a second session.
This why playing broken arcane casters is better than a thief.
In 3rd ed, wizards are modeled after scientists. So lots of people are more competent than a first level wizard, at least if you allow updated versions of item creation and material components. And many of them know it. The trick is not to invite the guy who keeps talking about how much better his version of the spell is.
aw poor war. He’s all pouty. Let him use his god-like powers 2 obliterate the slopes. It would be awesome and frightin at the same time. (i love this comic so much (^-^))
Also, I appreciate the Wizard comment.
Rofl. Nice. :D
