I’ve joked to friends once or twice that my solution for coming up with a joke for the comic when I’m totally written out is to go to Wikipedia, find a truly strange sport, and write a comic on it. This…is one of those strips.
There’s an art error in the second panel that was entirely unintentional, but I think makes the comic way funnier on the whole than if it had been drawn “straight.” Can’t find it? Count the arms on the wrestling guys. Either one guy has three arms, or the other guy has punched completely through his opponent’s torso. Unintentional, perhaps–but Joe was clearly in-tune with the spirit of pankration when he drew this one.
