WIP Day 1
Instead of a new comic, I thought I’d treat you to an inside look at the creative process behind Apartment 4H, Dear readers.
Shown here is the first step in creation, story boarding! Once Dave sends me the script, I do thumbnail sketches of each panel, sometimes repeating them several times until the right composition presents itself. Larger sketches, such as the one above of War leaping heroically, are great for figuring out tough poses or facial expressions. And then, of course, teddy bears are always a plus.
Once the forthcoming “Extras” section of the site goes live, I’ll post a full step-by-step walk through of the 4H creation process. Something to look forward to!
Oh the college memories… also ad’aaaw-able, but in a manly way
The meditative act of drawing the teddy bear launches my mind into “The Art Zone.” While in this trance-like state, the purest expression of aesthetic beauty GUSHES from my mind to my hand to the page in a veritable torrent of creative chaos.
…Plus, they’re ad’aaaw-able
That teddy bear is adorable. I’m interested as how he fits in with the hints of drama and peril suggested by the sketches.
