Introducing Mr. Roosevelt

Teddy Roosevelt is, without a doubt, our favorite president. And for good reason! He’s fun to draw, he’s fun to write for, he’s instantly recognizable, he was a total badass…
Some other amusing things about this strip:
1. Pestilence breaking out in a cold sweat is incredibly disturbing. Joe’s rendition of this is bizarre enough to give me nightmares.
2. This marks the first appearance of Chloe, Pestilence’s pet bear!
3. History would be much better if instead of a death by rheumatism/heart attack Roosevelt was actually imprisoned in a magic lamp by Aleister Crowley, who was envious of Roosevelt’s powers in the occult.
Teddy Roosevelt, the word “Bully”, Pinocchio, youth apparel (though I’m not exactly sure what’s going on there–it looks like a short-sleeved hoodie), the amoeba family picture, the bear–getting all these elements to work awesomely together without cluttering the artwork or the story is very impressive.
the picture frame is a nice touch :)
